1. What differentiates us from other migration agents?

Here at Active Migration Australia we believe that you should have a visa strategy instead of just a visa.

When you make a plan you should consider all of your options, analyse each one based on your current situation and determine the best way to proceed. A good plan is flexible, it has contingencies, it’s goal orientate and definable.

We’re here to assist you plan and conduct that strategy.

You need to be sure your migration agent understands your situation and has a good knowledge of the available visas and how they can be combined to create a strategy.

Among other things, these are areas we consider important for you to consider before choosing an Australia migration agency:

  • Experience with a broad range of visas
  • Experience with jurisdictional and merit review issues
  • Knowledge of the migration law
  • Ongoing development – is the other agent just keeping up, or exceeding your expectations
  • Number of staffs
  • English proficiency

But, before any of that, make sure that you only deal with a registered migration agent.

2. Experience & Specialized

At Active Migration Australia you are not hiring a single agent, you’re dealing with registered agents with a joined experience of over 36 years.

And not just that. You’re also engaging a team of professionals with a wide range of experience across a large number of visa sub-classes.

All Active Migration Australia Registered Migration agents are not only trained across a broad range of visas, they also have a specialist field that they champion. These champions are a resource and benefit to both our clients and our team.

“As an example of our experience with an RSMS visa, at AMA we have lodged a large number of RSMS visas over the past 8 years pre-Perth becoming regional in September 2011. We are one of the largest suppliers of migration services in the hospitality industry in Darwin (which has always been an RSMS approved area), and have major mining clients in outback NSW (another RSMS area). I believe that gives us a distinct advantage over a number of other agents in Perth that are relatively new to the RSMS.” Scott Walker – Managing Director, Active Migration Australia.

3. Will They Fight For You?

Does cheaper agent understand the immigration law well enough to identify jurisdictional error?

It is a fact that case officers are human and can make mistakes. If not, what will they do? They certainly will not fight for you if they don’t understand the error. There are provisions in the migration act to review a decision that has been made with jurisdictional error and have it overturned or reviewed. This is separate to MRT where the merit of the case is review and has a much faster resolution period.

Migration agents must complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to maintain their MARA registration, in particular a minimum of 10 points per year. These can be done at 3 levels, Beginner, Intermed and Advanced. There is nothing stopping an agent from completing all CPDs at the beginner level. This is great for the agent, but it doesn’t help you. Our Senior agents typically complete all of their CPDs at an Advanced Level and will most often exceed the minimum requirement.

“Since re-registration in October 2012 I have completed 13 CPD’s in the past 4 months including 1 beginner, 3 intermed and 10 Advanced CPD’s. the 10 advanced CPD’s were completed as part of a master class held in Melbourne aimed at serious professionals. I aim to ensure my clients have the best possible representation that I can provide. I promote this practice across the board and challenge all registered migration agents to do the same.” Scott Walker – Managing Director, Active Migration Australia – 1st February 2013.

4. Skills and Resources

How many agents are there in the other firms? Are there enough to cover your case if they are sick, injured or otherwise unavailable?

At AMA, we have a large number of migration agents and support staffs ensuring your case will progress and a person will always be there to answer your call. Regardless of where your primary contact may be, you will always get support.

Active Migration Australia have a range of team members from various backgrounds and are able to support you in a number of native languages. And while we support other cultures and languages, the legislation written in the Migration Act is in English. To us, we believe it is important to make sure that when you compare agents, you also compare the English proficiency level of the agent. Is the agent able to understand and interpret the immigration act well enough to represent you, and are they able to present a case that is professional and succinct?

5. The Extra Miles

We clock-in no less than 39-hours per visa application (how about that?!), skip none of the checklists, and make all the extra efforts to make sure your visa application successful.

Even a registered migration agent only clock-in around 19-hours on average per application. This bare minimum process is done either to save cost or as a way round the lack of manpower. That’s not the case with Active Migration Australia.

In the end, you’ll find that all things you have to consider will be answered in affirmative at Active Migration Australia.

That’s because we abide and are committed to our tenet of “positively changing people’s lives”, namely by helping you achieving your dreams of a life in Australia.
